When cleaning and sealing real stone floors use a detergent formulated for calciferous stone travertine marble or limestone as general floor cleaner may contain acid that can etch the surface. Also make sure to rinse the floor with clean water after using a strong cleaner. A cleaner that will work well on a slate floor could damage a marble floor. Change the solution when it gets cloudy or dirty.

In fact cleaning stone floors can vary greatly depending on the type of stone and grout you have. The ideal cleanser is a ph neutral product meaning that it s around a 7 on the alkaline acidity scale. Vacuum or sweep the floor to remove any dirt particles.
