The step up is a great all around exercise for the lower body. It can also improve your sleep quality and mental health.

A step up targets the quadriceps here and hamstrings here as well as the gluteal muscles in the buttocks. Or you can stand in front of the stairs. The step up is a unilateral movement that requires balance and will force you to strengthen each leg individually. Push your toes into the floor and extend your legs into a plank position.

The step up exercise offers you a great way to improve your physical fitness and body composition. The step up is a compound exercise meaning that multiple muscle groups are worked across a number of joints. To do a step up you ll need a small step stool.
